Warning Letter MOM Singapore
Penulis : admin
Dear All member of AJASPAC
Attached, please find a letter from the Ministry Of Manpower (MOM) Singapore to Job Plus about adhering strictly to the age requirement.
Last month, we have a new Indonesian domestic worker, Nur who came to work in Singapore for the 1st time. Her passport indicated that she is 23+ year old. She was randomly chosen by the Investigating Officer during Photo Taking and Thumb Printing to make her work permit card for personal interview and questioning about her background and age. She honestly told the officer that her age is 22 +. She even signed a declaration which was in English but was translated to her in Bahasa that her real age is actually 22+. After that her work permit was immediately cancelled and now she has to go back to Indonesia. We tried to appeal by saying that the maid is intimidated during the interview and also produce the birth certificate to support our appeal but this is flatly turned down by MOM.
I am told that at least one Indonesian maid is sent back every day because they are underage.
The employment agencies are also warned and will be investigated for abetting.
Kindly take note and exercise extra precaution in your recruiting activities as MOM is very strict now.
Thanks.
Regards
Alex
